Beretta Nano vs Kel-Tec PF9

Compare the Beretta Nano subcompact 9mm pistol to the Kel-Tec PF9. I own the Kel Tec  PF9 for which I paid $260.00. The Beretta Nano MSRP is listed at $475.00 but you can find the Beretta Nano for sale online for $399.99. The Beretta Nano is expected to be available towards the end of October 2011.

Neither the Beretta Nano nor the PF9 has an external safety. The Beretta Nano has no external slide release/slide lock. The Kel Tec PF9 has a slide release/slide lock. They are both similar in size but the PF9 is lighter at 15oz. Barrel length is about the same at just over 3.0″ for each. The PF9 magazine holds 7 + 1 compared to the Nano magazine Capacity of 6 + 1.

The fit and finish of the Kel-Tec PF9 is not in the same league with other manufactures offerings from Kimber, Ruger, and Beretta. The PF9 is an inexpensive, very light weight, accurate 9mm pistol that can provide excellent service at a good price. A very important feature of owning a PF9 is the original owner lifetime warranty. Without that lifetime warranty the Kel Tec would not be such a good deal.

An important note for all small subcompact 9mm pistols: A good grip and firing position is critical to get these small subcompact pistols to cycle properly. The small size also makes it important to note the position of your thumb. It is easy to rub against the slide which can cause failure to eject and failure to load.
